Continually …
Pause and consider the greatness of God…
To do so daily will soothe the soul…

When I struggle with life, when I’m in a bad place and can’t find my way out, I must not focus on the mud in which my feet are stuck, I must look up, and reach for the hand that is offered to help me out.
Focus not on the trouble, but regularly look unto the savior, recalling all he has already done.
Remember what the writer to Hebrews says, that God is “greater” nd that there is no one greater than God in whom we may have hope. (See Hebrews 6:13-20)

Selah (pause and consider)…

Disciples cultivate
This familiar passage is something we must cultivate…

This desire does not come naturally. The human inclination is to drift, to go their own way. Hebrews warns…
“About this we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food, for everyone who lives on milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, since he is a child. But solid food is for the mature, for those who have their powers of discernment trained by constant practice to distinguish good from evil.” Hebrews 5:11-14 ESV
Put another way: Through “constant practice” we “train ourselves” with the “solid food” of the “word of God.” This training results in “discernment.” This training develops our love of, trust in, and desire to know God better and better.
Too often we settle for drinking milk – I suggest that “milk” is too often the reliance of the words of humans rather than the word of God – this reliance keeps us weak.
Too many friends rely WAY TOO MUCH on the words of men, the result is weakness, not strength. This weakness is seen in poor decisions from a lack of discernment. This comes from a weak relationship with God and his word.
Train yourself, fellow disciple, with the word of God, then you will grow in your desire for God as did the psalmist.

He is faithful, He hears!

“Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:14-16 ESV
