grace

It’s a gift we don’t deserve.

It’s the source of salvation that begins our new life.

It’s the strength that keeps us going in this new life.

It’s a vehicle that brings God’s love to me.

It means I don’t have to measure up. Thanks God!

It comes as the outworking of God’s love and is the only true source of ministry.

It’s the way of the Light, the light that is the light of all people.

It’s freely offered to you, wherever you are as well as the university students from Hungary, Nepal, Vietnam, China, Nigeria, Iraq, and Yemen and the rest of of us hanging out in Jyväskylä, Finland.

I was honored to share how God’s grace brought peace to me through the finished work of Jesus.

Jesus + nothing = right with God!

It’s been a week of grace!

Grace can’t really be anticipated. We just walk on and rely on it. It’s beautiful when grace surprises us.

Like getting to teach a New Testament class last week to these awesome students in Vinnytsia, Ukraine!

Walk on in Grace my friend!

though everything shakes…

“Of old you laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you will remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will change them like a robe, and they will pass away, but you are the same, and your years have no end.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭102:25-27‬ ‭ESV‬‬

the train last night from Kyiv to Vinnytsia heading toward the dusk

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”

Behold the Lord

“For behold, he who forms the mountains and creates the wind, and declares to man what is his thought, who makes the morning darkness, and treads on the heights of the earth— the Lord, the God of hosts, is his name!”

‭‭Amos‬ ‭4:13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The Bible is a treasure! It’s a great key to following God…

While clearing out the treasury of the house of the Lord by command of King Josiah, the (long lost?) Law of God was found! When it was read to him, king Josiah exclaimed:

“Go, inquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”” (2 Kings‬ ‭22:13‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Josiah had descended from several generations of idolatrous kings. He knew their evil deeds well. When he heard the law itself, he was deeply moved by it. He told the prophets to seek the Lord as to what disaster must be coming because his fathers had led the nation so far astray.

Centuries later, the writer to the Hebrews said this:

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Let us, each day, look less to the words of men and more to the Bible, the word of God, for our instruction in following Jesus, whose love drove Him to make the ultimate sacrifice and then rise to complete our redemption!

So then, for us today oh fellow disciples, meditating upon and reading the Bible, reminds us, as Lewis admonished, to keep our “aim at Heaven!”
