Chambers on making “elbow room”

“As servants of God, we must learn to make room for Him-to give God “elbow room.” We plan and figure and predict that this or that will happen, but we forget to make room for God to come in as He chooses. Would we be surprised if God came into our meeting or into our preaching in a way we had never expected Him to come? Do not look for God to come in a particular way, but do look for Him. The way to make room for Him is to expect Him to come, but not in a certain way….”

Deep, wide, & high beauty

Sweet Anna and I contemplated this beautiful section of Scripture this morning. I wound up sharing it with several people during the day… read it slowly… it is rich.

[14] For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, [15] from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, [16] that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, [17] so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, [18] may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, [19] and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
[20] Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, [21] to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:14-21 ESV)

it’s still an important event

A friend pointed out a quote from a book today.

Consider, in this quote, how ‘everyday’ abortion has become to many:

“I got an abortion and learned how to make dehydrated tuna flakes and turkey jerky and took a refresher course on basic first aid and practiced using my water purifier in my kitchen sink.”*

Now hang on a second. Think about that.

Abortion is a medical procedure. It is NOT like stopping to buy a loaf of bread.

But there are those today who would wish to make this serious issue a very everyday and okay non-event. The writer of this sentence and those who promote this philosophy want just that… for us to believe abortion is not a big deal.

Please think about this and don’t just blow off this issue.
