family… twenty-somethings…

our girls just left, they were visiting for the weekend, it was so enjoyable… it is good to be around family… these ladies are in their twenties…

a friend sent me a link to some very interesting research about twenty-somethings and “the church”…

while I would question some of the presuppositions about what is considered important today among followers of Jesus, the research deserves consideration

no posts lately

I will be glad when life settles back down to where I have time for the contemplating necessary to post…

oh, Tuesday night someone commented on one of my posts with a porn link… sad… very sad… I then changed my settings to monitor and approve comments… so guys, when you try to comment, you will NOT see it until I approve it… I don’t want to be a censor but I can’t let this nonsense get on my blog…

considering this nonsense, I say with John, even so come Lord Jesus!

Unity

wow… what a week…

I am reminded of the importance of 1 Cor. …

I am not to be a follower of ‘Tom’ or of ‘Josh McDowell’ or of ‘Bryan’ or of ‘Liz’ or ‘Brian McLaren’ or of the ‘Baptists’ or of the ‘Episcopalians’ or of the ‘Roman Catholics’ or of the ‘Methodists’ or of the ‘Church of God’ or of ‘Christ this or that Church’ or of the ‘Trinity’s or ‘Calvary’s …

BUT I AM TO FOLLOW JESUS…. I must remember to cut through the stuff of man and look to Jesus…

holy cow

WHAT in the world!

concert worship

so last night a bunch of us went to a concert – a guy from the 50s and 60s, his name is Paul Anka… it was a good show, as one friend put it, “it was nice to be entertained…”

the last two chapels i have tried to begin to convey to the kids what worship is, what is results in… one of the illustrations i gave was of people at a football game or people at a concert who were cheering madly for thier team or their favorite band…

well, last night i saw this happening… while enjoying the show, it became really clear that some present were enjoying the show a lot more than some of the rest of us… during one song, Mr. Anka came down to the floor level and was dancing with a lady as he sang when another lady RAN down to the front, unashamed, to get a chance to dance… she waited while they danced, and he sang, and he was gracious enough to give her a kiss… she was, in a sense, worshipping… interesting to think of how unconcerned she was about appearance… she only wanted his attention and recognition… she recognized him and begged for attention… she got the attention…

don’t misunderstand… i know i am messed up too, i worship stuff i shouldn’t i’m no better, i just haven’t seen such a good example since UVa beat FSU for the second time…
