C. S. Lewis

He who said “aim at heaven” went there on this date in 1963.
The impact of C. S. Lewis on Christian discipleship is inestimable.
In the chapter titled “Hope” in Mere Christianity is the full sentence which,
without a doubt, is my most often used quote: “Aim at heaven and you will get earth ‘thrown in’: aim at earth and you will get neither.”

I’ve often wondered if that quote was inspired by this text from Paul to the Colossians:

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” (Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Why Doctrine? For Joy and Assurance

Someone who doesn’t have Fb asked how to watch the teaching at Mt. Shiloh Baptist Church.

Someone else said I could link it.

So here’s my attempt. Sorry to bother the rest of you.

Love Autumn

Love this time of year! Autumn days are awesome, newly sown grass seed has taken root in front yard and is growing. Our analysis of Christian Educators Outreach ministry year that ended in June 30 is complete, it was an awesome year where thousands of lives were touched. I’m planning my January trip to Hungary and Croatia for visits and retreats, love trip planning! AND starting a new teaching series on Old Testament promises of Jesus at church tomorrow morning! Glory to God, y’all!
