A hard teaching that begs an important question.

Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The question: When was the last time you took a long hard, honest look at the things in your life that draw you away from your former devotion to God?

Which begs another question: Who is it that you can share this with and ask for prayer and accountability?

Now a plea: Don’t keep God a distant shelf, just taking him down when it’s convenient for you.

I have found this to be a helpful question in self-examination. One who resists self examination, resists growth in being Jesus’ disciple.

Take heart!

“O Lord God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O Lord, with your faithfulness all around you? You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, you still them. (Psalm‬ ‭89‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Trust in the Lord.
Abide in Him and build your trust!

“Steadfast love and faithfulness meet; righteousness and peace kiss each other. Faithfulness springs up from the ground, and righteousness looks down from the sky. Yes, the Lord will give what is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before him and make his footsteps a way.” Psalm‬ ‭85‬:‭10‬-‭13‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Because of His holiness, we can have complete trust confidence in God…

Abide in His word, sit with him in worship and prayer, grow in trust, beloved disciple.

Then, when trouble comes, you will have developed trust in Him to be your refuge.
