The Bible is a treasure! It’s a great key to following God…

While clearing out the treasury of the house of the Lord by command of King Josiah, the (long lost?) Law of God was found! When it was read to him, king Josiah exclaimed:

“Go, inquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”” (2 Kings‬ ‭22:13‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Josiah had descended from several generations of idolatrous kings. He knew their evil deeds well. When he heard the law itself, he was deeply moved by it. He told the prophets to seek the Lord as to what disaster must be coming because his fathers had led the nation so far astray.

Centuries later, the writer to the Hebrews said this:

“For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Let us, each day, look less to the words of men and more to the Bible, the word of God, for our instruction in following Jesus, whose love drove Him to make the ultimate sacrifice and then rise to complete our redemption!

So then, for us today oh fellow disciples, meditating upon and reading the Bible, reminds us, as Lewis admonished, to keep our “aim at Heaven!”

For YOU He came and died and rose and lives to pay for our sin to obliterate condemnation!

This Sunday I’ll be continuing my series from the New Testament book of Hebrews in Budapest. In reviewing chapters 1-6 I’ve just mined this gold nugget of truth:

“Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.” (Hebrews‬ ‭2:17‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Because He loves YOU, He came, He died, He rose and He lives, so we may live!!!!

Consider the Risen Son

In these days after the resurrection we do well to consider the supremacy of Jesus!

“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:3-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬

His work is finished, he said so, let us rejoice in Him!!!

the resurrection view

On day after Easter let us give God the praise He is due! He has defeated death; He has covered our sins; Today don’t let the mundane schedule let you lose the resurrection view. Let us say with the psalmist:

“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who alone does wondrous things. Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory! Amen and Amen!”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭72:18-19‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Morning has broken!

The sun rose.

They went to the tomb.

They looked inside.

The tomb was empty.

“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,” (1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:3-4‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

He is risen!

Hallelujah!

fear death no more because of His death

“He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭25:8‬ ‭ESV‬‬
