a trip

While Anna holds down the fort here at home, our two girls and I head to Hungary tomorrow to seek a teaching post for Joanna. This will be Rebecca’s first visit to Hungary. This is my regular winter trip to meet, encourage, and look at new ministries with whom CEO may partner. Our first destination is Szeged to meet with some friends and share in a church on Sunday. Early Monday we will train to Budapest. Our friends in Budapest have been busy setting up interviews in schools for Joanna, who graduates from Liberty this May with a degree in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL). The girls and I will be together from Friday until Thursday morning when I will board my train south to Croatia where I will teach on Thursday night in our partner church in Vukovar. On Friday morning, two Hungarian and two American brothers will drive to Bosnia to visit some ministries to see how our different ministries might serve with them in future. Returning on Sat night to Vukovar, Croatia I will again speak at the Sunday service before driving to Hungary to catch a train which will take me back to Budapest for my flight next morning home to Virginia. Whew.
Prayers would be appreciated for:
· God’s steps and protection especially for these two ladies.
· a teaching position for Joanna of God’s choosing that will be a “platform” for her ministry in Budapest
· clarity for me as I get the chance to give His Word to encourage different churches, partners and friends both over coffee in cafes and from pulpits
· smooth connections on planes, trains and automobiles
· open doors and hearts in Muslim Bosnia where I have been wanting to visit for four years, now the door is wide open
· finances for the trip
· personally, I want some focused time with the Lord during this trip (yes those opportunities can be crafted into the day!). I wish to hear his voice afresh and be spiritually refreshed in the midst of traveling, in this I am very expectant!

I hope to post along the way…

We are all part of the problem

Here’s an interesting quote that describes spiritually according to some eastern ways of thinking that if not carefully considered, could sound almost right :

“We are all part of the problem, and we are all part of the solution.”

this at first reading sounds pretty good…

but this is more accurate…

“We are all part of the problem. But only one man is the solution, and his name is Jesus.”

these ideas are from The Divine Embrace, the latest book I’m reading…

Webber does a great job of investigating the history, the theology and the practice of spirituality. I have been nodding my head a lot recognizing much of my own journey and those of fellow travelers… I’ll bet I’ll be sharing more along the journey from this work…

Narnia

my dearest and I watched Narnia last night, it was awesome to see Lewis’ words come to life on the screen…

I have enjoyed it so much that I have begun a new light reading excercise: The Magician’s Nephew
