bus to Belgrade

after a quiet morning with the Lord, I had coffee with my contact in Srebrenica and we headed for the bus…

I was loaded up and ready to head to the capital of Serbia, we pulled away five minutes early! at 10:55…

We drove by the memorial cemetery on the way out…

it took us 45 minutes to cross the border from Bosnia to Bratunac, Serbia and arrive at a bus station where the ticket man rushed me onto another bus which backed out right after I got on and we were on our way… we followed the Drina river for a couple of hours …

it was a long ride

the mountains have faded into the distance as we are headed northwest

no mountains, its just a plain

I spotted a bridge over the Sava River

finally arrived in Belgrade…

now, where’s the hotel?

Srebrenica visit

in addition to a good meeting with some women who lead a agriculture co-op, I accomplished several other goals, one was this pic…

a lone cross among thousands of Muslim graves

This is the grave of a catholic who was killed in the massacre, he was buried in 2010 (I think… Laci can you verify in comments?).

Here is what I saw/heard out my hotel window when I check in this afternoon…

All I hear now is Balkan music with a disco beat from some nearby building… ahhhhh traveling…

BUT the early morning ride through the slow covered Bosnian mountains was amazing (that is ice on the INSIDE of the bus window – just in case you were wondering)…

Here’s a view I grabbed as we drove to the town from our meeting…

Sarajevo: important training

Little did I know that I would be receiving such important training here in Bosnia. You may be aware of my work: riding trains, drinking coffee and asking questions. Today, in the Bosnian capital, I received training on how to prepare and properly drink Bosnian coffee… from the proper boiling to measuring, serving and drinking…

careful measuring of the hand ground coffee is essential

at the completion of my course I received a diploma which will be framed and displayed in my study in the ‘ville…

here's the proof

…hmmm, I wonder how I can get a wallet size so as to identify myself as a tested and approved connoisseur?

balkan iceburg

there’s so much snow, they are using front-end loaders and dump trucks to move the snow to the river bank creating this ice-burg effect…

outside right now , I can hear the workers using heavy equipment to scoop up and haul away tons of snow while most of the city sleeps…
