a Christmas prayer

Christmas in Hungary is similar to that in America, with many distractions, trappings, and traps. We are, therefore, content to offer a single, simple prayer request this week:

+ We pray that the people around us (which includes us) will WANT to find the REAL Jesus.

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. —Jesus [Matthew 7.7-8, NLT]

thoughts on pastoral work

Ten years ago a fellow chaplain shared these thoughts with me… they are worth reconsidering…

walk closely with Christ

WANT TO be there

have people you can cuss at about work. your wife cannot sustain this

you are a safe person to others, keep objectivity

seek to be the safest person they know

the literal darkness of North Korea

I saw this pic (Picture credit: AFP, NASA) in an Economist artice (you should read, click here) and wanted to post it. How sad for the millions of North Koreans who live in such a dark place. Their poverty expressed in a dark night virtually creates line on a map.
