One thing we learn from reading the Psalms daily is that psalmists often praised God for Himself not just what He did for them.
Don’t wait for the good stuff to praise God, praise Him for Him!
“I will give to the Lord the thanks due to his righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord, the Most High.” Psalm 7:17 ESV
