Listening to the heart

This morning as I sat and read from Psalm 119 these words stood out:

“I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word.” (Psalm‬ ‭119‬:‭15‬-‭16‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

A bit later as I chatted with a couple of brothers over eggs and other goodies, we began talking about getting truths from our heads to our heart.

It is my experience that meditation on the words of the Bible is a real answer to moving truth from the head to the heart.

There are several ways to meditate on Scripture. But the key seems to be to make time to go slow and reread. Don’t be in such a hurry to finish that you miss the meaning.

Here’s a NT way of expressing it:

“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.” (Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Pause, stop, set your mind on Him and He will move you from head knowledge to heart understanding.
