“Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you, and I will instruct you in the good and the right way. Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.”1 Samuel 12:23-24 ESV

Fighting my own battles? Or trusting the Lord?
In 1 Samuel I just read of the people demanding a king…
“But the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel. And they said, “No! But there shall be a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.””
1 Samuel 8:19-20 ESV

Are we so very different? Don’t we want a human solution? Aren’t we often saying, “Oh, I don’t need God to handle this! I’ve got it.” Or “the government’s got it.” Or whomever. We turn to self or to fellow creatures rather than learning to depend on God.
Our Father sent Jesus to establish His kingdom.

Journaling Psalms
On the first I began journaling a Psalm a day. When I figure out what that means, I’ll let you know. But I’m muddling through and finding blessing. This morning as I sit in the airport, this text jumped out at me so I’m copying it and praying through this section.
“But know that the Lord has set apart the godly for himself; the Lord hears when I call to him. Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent. Selah”
Psalms 4:3-4 ESV
