In whom is your trust?

“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.” (‭‭Psa‬ ‭20:7‬ ‭ESV‬‬)

Place your trust not in politicians or governments (like this guy on the horse in central Zagreb who is but a memory of a now defunct empire)…

…instead, place your trust in The everlasting God!

Thinking correctly about ourselves…

WARNING: These may be convicting words. Read at you own risk!!
“For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:3-5‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“We who are strong have an obligation to bear with the failings of the weak, and not to please ourselves.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

…that none of you may be puffed up in favor of one against another. For who sees anything different in you? What do you have that you did not receive? If then you received it, why do you boast as if you did not receive it?”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4:6-7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Consider, remember what God has done…

“Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.”‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭12:24‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand,”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

“But you, O Lord, are a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant, and save the son of your maidservant. Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭86:15-17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

The battle is the Lord’s…

Recently I went on a trip to New York City with Sweet Anna, her niece and a friend. On our agenda, to my delight, was the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I took this shot of some Roman armour. Young David rejected the encumbrance of such when going against Goliath with just his staff and some smooth stones saying to the much larger warrior…

“and that all this assembly may know that the Lord saves not with sword and spear. For the battle is the Lord ‘s, and he will give you into our hand.””

‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭17:47‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Let’s remember that the battle we face is the Lord’s. Let’s remember that He is our source and to point one another to him and that truth.
