This Thanksgiving holiday is being celebrated in Budapest. This is our second Thanksgiving abroad. Back in about ’03 we had Thanksgiving over here with friends.
This morning there was an errand to run so I left with Joanna who was headed to teach at her university. Out on the street, it is just another Thursday. Since Thanksgiving is an American holiday it has no bearing on the local people here in Budapest.
Thanksgiving is a time to be grateful. Practicing gratitude is something I try to do regularly. I try to be thankful for my beating heart, for my breathing lungs, the ability to do what I do, the freedom to do what I do… I am thankful for my wife. It is on my trips and when she arrives to be with us during special gatherings that I am especially thankful for my Sweet Anna. I am also thankful for my daughters. I am so proud of them. They are amazing women. This year I am thankful for the first time for my son-in-law Will.
I am thankful for my everlasting life.
I try to cultivate gratitude in my life. I urge you to do the same.
