well, sweet Anna went to hang out with princess Irene of Arlington this weekend and school commitments kept me in the ‘ville so after my shift at Anna’s shop (I went in to let her leave early to beat the DC traffic), I went to a movie… it is a middle east CIA/military/espionage flick with some serious language and violence, not a date nite movie but it was a good movie nonetheless, click here for the trailer for “Body of Lies”… my recommendation: leave the faint of heart at home. The key phrase for me: “nobody is innocent.”

withers like grass
For those of us who are walking a journey of following Jesus, we need to be mindful fo the fact that if that which we are doing is not done in His power, it will wither and die… let us seek to be a discerning people, seeking the guidance of Wisdom in each of our steps on the journey… may our steps be His steps so that they do not wither like grass…
This idea comes from a conversation a friend and I are having about living in wilderness thinking or living in promised land thinking… more later.

yes, we can put country first
the election is over, the polls in VA just closed… now it is time to unite around the winner (it is 7:00 pm EST on the 4th as I write this)… what we should do is congratulate the winner and unite behind the president-elect… we need to put the harsh words behind us, both slogans are right: “yes we can” “put country first.” So now that this long election is over, let us remember that we are all Americans and let us look forward and support the new president…

Politics: almost over…
This quote is from an article in The Economist magazine… “Older evangelicals may care about issues like abortion and gay marriage. But young evangelicals list poverty, the environment and Darfur as their top concerns.” I don’t know what their source is, but in my connection with what Webber called ‘younger evangelicals’, this is an accurate assessment. Many people, for a long time, have decided on abortion, and moral issues like it, it does seems that younger followers of Jesus in America are looking at different issues. I wonder if the Republican top-dogs are out of touch with the future of their previous base: the evangelical vote?
Whichever man gets the nod from the voters on Tuesday and is then proclaimed President-elect deserves one thing without question from all followers of Jesus… prayer.
