veep debate

The debate was high energy… Sarah Palin didn’t win, really neither of them “won” but Sarah Palin showed us Thursday night that she could hold her own in a straight issues debate… all Republicans can breath a sigh of relief…

now, what do we make of this? well, I have said that if she blew it she should go… but she didn’t, she was strong and she stayed on task…

how do I analyze this? well, when I think of foreign policy and dealing with foreign leaders, she would not be in a Couric situation, she would be a bit more in this kind of situation in dealing with a foreign leader… coached, prepared, advised, in control of data and opportunity… Palin refered to the “mainstream media” and implied that the spin was unfair… I’m not sure about that… I still think she should be able to name a newspaper… but, you know what? She pulled it off tonight… can I now see her as president? well, no. But, I am not as afraid now as I was before. I am way more confident in her than I have been in the last couple of weeks.

I will say this about Joe Biden, he showed heart and he showed humanness. I am still undecided.

Biden said at least twice that this is the most important election those living have voted in… I agree… here’s one reason why… click here to read a BBC article on America’s ‘sunset.’

Lord, give us the wisdom to choose the leaders that will lead in a way that is good and merciful.

5 days to takeoff.

John McCain must wake up!

Palin is such a nice lady. She believes she is representing the ‘Joe six-pack’ middle class, great. She says all the right stuff that the Right wants to hear. But, when she is pinned down with a medium question – not a hard question – a medium question (can you name a newspaper or a news magazine?????), she looks like a deer in the headlights, stammers and wonders – no answer.

John McCain wake up! Obama is gaining steam. The more I see Palin talk, the more I fear voting for McCain.

I have never doubted John McCain’s ability.

But every time I see Sarah Palin get lost in a medium (not hard) question, I worry more about McCain’s age. Yes, I know his mom is 98 (or whatever age she is) but she didn’t spend five years in a Hanoi prison AND he is seeking the most stressful job in the world!

Palin in charge? No thank you.

John McCain wake up. Tomorrow may be her last chance. Swallow your pride and send the hockey mom back to the Alaska capital or the thinking American people may leave you in the Senate.

Mrs. Palin, put self aside and REALLY put Country first and step aside; Alaska may need you and you seem to have done a great job there, but I do not think I will be able to pull the lever for McCain if your name is on the ticket.

I am becoming less undecided.

Lord, please have mercy on us. Please guide us with wisdom toward the leader who has the humility and wisdom to be the leader we need now.

6 days to Bp!

Thursday’s “debate” – – – 7days to take off

the VEEP debate is coming up Thursday… lots of talk about it on the media… can Palin hold her own? I have my doubts…

but then there is Biden who is known for: a) putting his foot in his mouth (I know that feeling) and b) being long winded about it…

maybe she has a chance after all…

will I be undecided after Thursday?

Probably.

and then there is the economy… but that is another post.

Lord have mercy upon us…

Hey friends in HU and HR, I fly your way a week from tonight!!

election of ’08

If John McCain’s qualification is experience and decision making ability and in perhaps his most important decision so far, he chooses Sarah Palin who (based on my viewing of her interviews) many of my 17 and 18 year old students could outwit…
and
If Barak Obama is the agent of change who chooses Joe Biden and who is known for his oration
and couldn’t outwit his opponent last night…
and
As neither man actually answered any questions last night about how they would handle the worst economic crisis in 70 years…
then
For the first time in my memory…
I am now an undecided voter.

God, please help us. We are in dire straits.

good fruit

a couple of Saturdays ago we picked grapes… we discovered that some of the best bunches of grapes were hidden under the braod leaves… the leaves shielded the fruit and it was nourished and grew… I thought how we too are to bear fruit and the best fruit of the Spirit comes when we are nourished and are ‘raising the shield of faith.’ May Jesus’ followers abide in the vine.
