better than I deserve
When I am asked how I am doing, I have a stock answer recently… “I’m doing better than I deserve and probably better than I should admit”… funny answer huh? Just now, I realized why when I was writing a letter to send out to all the kind folks who donated to CEO in the last couple of weeks… Here’s what I said to them…
“Happy New Year!!! I continue to look back with thanksgiving for the year just past. In 2011 we saw our outreach expand in numbers and in geography. The fiscal year that ended last June 30 showed a record revenue for CEO and as the first half of this fiscal year has just passed, we are actually a little ahead of that pace! Again last year I spent about 35% of the year on the field working alongside our partners and traveled many miles in the US to visit colleges where God has blessed us with three new partners preparing for service abroad: Laura and Kathryn who are heading to Hungary and Megan who is going to serve in Croatia. Last year we again had our financial records examined by our CPA and in November received notification that we are now accredited by the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. We are committed to financial integrity; we work hard to make sure the dollars you donate are well managed as God would expect. On the field, we are working with ministries that are touching the lives of over four thousand people in five foreign countries. We give God the glory for what He is doing through CEO and we know that He is using you! We know that YOU are as big a part of this team as anyone because YOU are being used by Him through your prayers, encouragement and your financial contributions. Looking forward to this new year, I am excited about what we believe God has in store for us:
- A growing relationship with a Bible School/Seminary in Croatia. When visiting there in the fall, I found that this school was in need of English teachers, so I am looking for another teacher to serve with Jeremy, Petra, Kevin, Alyssa and Megan as part of our CEO team in Croatia. If you know someone who might be qualified, have them contact me at tom@ceokids.org
- There are many endeavors that CEO partners are engaged in that we are excited about including a worldwide movement to alleviate the orphan problem, a ministry to rescue women who have been caught up in prostitution in a major Central European city, continuing work to use sports to take the gospel to young people, Growing Hope through gardening training in the hearts of HIV sufferers in S. Africa, rescuing/housing/rehabilitating abandoned children in Ukraine and partnering in the gospel so that new churches are planted, encouraged and making disciples.
Please continue to pray for us! YOU are such an important partner in this work. It is your prayers and your financial contributions that are keeping our work going. Thank you for your partnership. Please stay tuned to our website for the latest news. We want you to stay informed as you pray for our endeavors to serve the Lord.”
So after I read that to Sweet Anna, I realized, NO WONDER I’m doing so great? God is just blessing me more than I deserve, HE IS AWESOME. What a great God we serve!!!
