The Year in Pictures (IHT)
When I am traveling across the pond, I often grab a copy of the International Herald Tribune to try to keep up with the news since other outlets are not available. Here at home, I often look to their website for news… today they have published their version of the year in pictures… herein you will see joy and sorrow, disbelief and hope, life and death, defeat and accomplishment… click here.

pay attention
“Learning to pay attention and knowing what to pay attention to is a key discipline for leaders but one that rarely comes naturally to those of us who are barreling through life with our eyes fixed on a goal.” p.63
from Strengthening the Soul of Your Leadership – Ruth Haley Barton
think about it… paying attention is HARD… we need to cultivate the habit of making the time that is necessary to stop all the busy-ness that we surround ourselves with and just pay attention… listen for that still, small voice. Far too often we are so hungry to hear something that we cannot hear Him, but satic that sounds just like Him…
….slowing down to pay attention.

it’s a most wonderful time of the year
because of the focus upon the incarnate God who came to reconcile man to Himself…
because of great events at school like B, Christmas Chapel, and Live Nativity (which is this Thursday at the Lower School at 4:30, I’ll be reading the Christmas Story for all who come)
because of visiting with people who are around during the holiday
because I am now finished teaching until January, exams are this week… and that means reduced required time at school!
because the Princess of Obuda will come home for Christmas with Princess Irene after a visit to the nation’s capital
because of the events with alumni: b-ball on the 19th, 98’s ten year reunion on the 27th, and hopefully lots of coffee with individuals
because of the sence of accomplishment that will come with completed projects at home…
because of the incarnate God who came to set us free…
because of the rich depth of the words in so many of the Christmas carols…

TRAVEL WOES IN HUNGARY
The Princess of Obuda is stuck in Wien since the Hungarian Rail workers are on strike. Arden is concerned about luggage and connections since at least some of the workers at the Budapest airport are on strike. One can read it on the German news website… Last summer, British Air had scores of thousands of checked bags lost and held up for MONTHS after the messy opening of Terminal 5… it’s a time to pack light and pray!

at a modern wedding
Sweet Anna and I travelled to Northern VA to attend a wedding yesterday. During certain parts of the ceremony, the cameras really came out. When I saw this scene I grabbed the Palm and shot this:

who needs a photographer?
