me and Jo

me and Jo

This is a great pic… We’ve just left a pastry/coffee shop in Szeged, Hungary where I picked up some lunch and I’m heading for a train to Serbia… Joanna is walking beside me and telling me all about something… what a great moment… thanks Arden for taking this candid…

Here is the train I was heading for…

It is referred to as the “Silver Bullet…” a bullet it is not.

flying through Paris

after a very fruitful trip to visit friends in Hungary and Croatia, I’ve returned home… one word of advise… DO NOT try Paris (CDG) with an hour and a half layover… the logistics at CDG are actually worse than Heathrow. So, you can fly AF to enjoy the service and good food but take the longer layover at CDG… it is actually a good airport for a longer layover, clean, open, comfortable seating…

Wednesday night dinner

One of fav events on these trips is to get the Vac and Bp folks together for dinner. This year the dinner was in Vac down in the cellar.

team bag is packed, dollar is skyrocketing

I packed the team bag yesterday: 50 pounds exactly! mark and his anvils, HC.

So, this busy end of summer beginning of fall is settling down for me… retreat is done and debriefed. Interims are written and corrected (thx BV). Mike and Christine’s wedding was fun and is now behind me. And the team bag (including St.JW 4 AC) is packed. Some last minute adjustments to the trip itinerary are being made. Just two more classes and then chapel tomorrow and then I will board an Air France jet for the crossing of the pond tomorrow afternoon. The next post may not be written until I get to Budapest. Interested in trip itinerary? click here.

When I get there I will enjoy the best exchange rate in a year! It seems the Euro zone is in worse shape today (Oct 6 – it does seem to be a day by day thing now) than the US economy as the European markets are falling because of some bank troubles. Though it is notable that this morning after an hour and a half (its 10.35 on the east coast) the Dow is down about 400 points. So I am hopeful for a strong dollar for this trip. Go to the ATM and get me some money Jo, quick! see you Wed!
