I love trains, I love the journey…
as I look around and listen, everywhere I look these days there are people in transition…
I even feel like I’m in transition… a few weeks ago I was high up on a hill overlooking Bp with a friend and we met some people he knew… as I was introduced and asked what I was doing, I said I was just following Jesus around Bp… and that each step I took put me a little higher up so I could see the next step ahead…
in the minds of many that is a strange way of looking at life… we are more inclined to want to know the destination… more like, I’m gettin on a train and going to X (a place of certainty)…
but sometimes we need to get off the familiar train that we have been on… we need to get off at an unfamiliar station…
back in June I got off a very familiar train at the instruction of the princess of Obuda… I got off at an unfamiliar station… with some fairly good directions, but those directions were kinda vague… but I got off anyway, as recommended… here is what I found…
there were a lot of choices… I could have stayed on the familiar train (the blue one) I could have gotten on the other train and gone back in the direction I had come and wound up who-knows-where… or I could have followed instructions to get on the #1 tram… this means I listened to instructions and followed… even if it means walking through the unfamiliar, the uncertain… to get where it is I am supposed to go…
Jesus said “follow me” – He doesn’t give a life map with our existence all paved and mapped for us… He just says “follow me”… travel the journey… day by day… step by step… “don’t worry about tomorrow”
