we had an AMAZING weather day yesterday… then it switched to cooler today, over 80 yesterday, high will be 55 today and cloudy today here in the ‘ville… Sweet Anna commented on how the weather affects our outlook on things… how true.
but with that in mind – with the weather and other factors which impact us from outside, isn’t it great to know that we are able to overcome the externals through the fruit of the Spirit which is self-control? a friend in the counselling world is recommending a book to ministry folks: Emotionally Healthy Spirituality… here’s a quote: “I never expected God to meet me through feelings such as sadness, depression, and anger.” Think about that for a second… as we go through “weather changes” we should remember that He is with us no matter what, no matter when, no matter where… he is with us, in us…
C.S.Lewis in Mere Christianity’s chapter “The Good Infection” talks about God beside or behind us… one of my students put it something like this… ‘God is there when we fall, pushing us up, holding us up.’ Indeed. God is there: He is our refuge. (see Psa. 46) It’s like John says “in Him was life: and the life was the light of men” (John 1.5, AV) Isn’t it great to have that light guiding us… from the inside?
especially when the weather changes.
EHS……….great book…..on my second read!
