a reflection on the first day of the 51st year

today’s the first day of my fifty-first year travelin this sod…

yesterday mornin i wrote some thoughts (in this cool #A6 notebook that I bought at Heathrow on the way to Hungary) about being thankful at 50… here is the first thought on thankfulness…

“for a relationship with a loving, forgiving, heavenly Father…”

today I was chatting with my friend Mark… DSL is down at home so I was (and am) at Greenberrys and the laptop was (and is…) struggling, so I just restarted it… when I was back on, Mark asked if I was having trouble with my internet connection…

“I was,” I wrote, “and I finally just restarted the computer… the connection is so much better…”

“humans are like my laptop” I wrote…

“how so?” Mark pondered

“because like my laptop, they need to be periodically restarted to clear up the connection…”

hmmmm…

We need to restart… here’s how:

Adoration and worship of God,
Confession of our wrongs to him and others,
Thanksgiving for all we have…
Supplication for the needs I have… but more for the needs of others

connection with God is awesome!

IF we are willing to restart when necessary…

that’s whats cool about first days…

…every day can be a first day!

NEXT… being? doing?
