the power of light

The power of light is amazing… I turned the corner from 50th onto 5th and this was what I saw…

The sun streaming onto the stone of this cathedral against the backdrop of buildings in the shadows…

we too, are called to come to the Light…

the Light of the Son…

submission

Here are some thoughts I found helpful from Foster’s Celebration of Discipline, these come from a chapter on submission:

“In submission we are at last free to value other people”

“The apostle Paul grounds the imperative to the Church to ‘count others better than yourselves’ [see Rom 14, 1Cor 8] in the submission and self-denial of the Lord for our salvation. ‘He… emptied himself, taking the form of a servant'”

“Those who walk in the Spirit… …know without question that submission is due to the Word that has been given in spiritual authority” (Phil. 2:4-7)

“Nothing can put people into bondage like religion, and nothing in religion has done more to manipulate and destroy people than a deficient teaching on submission”

angles, squares, juxtaposition

when walking the streets of midtown Manhattan, i noted the interplay of the angles of the buildings… in the spring at certain times of day the sun aided my quest for the shot i liked…

i was fascinated by the way the individual buildings stood out among their neighbors…

and how the familiar really stood out when it was spotted…

..we too as individuals stand out in a crowd, because of our value as individuals, no matter how big the crowd…
